I've seen these guys since the beginning when they first played at St. Andrew's Hall here in Detroit. I was very excited for this show all year. Big thanks to Mark for letting me use his LPU pre-sale code for this show. I got some really nice seats to tape from! Just a bit off center to the right, in-between both stacks. The performance was fantastic! Chester's voice sounds great and the new album songs translate well live. "Guilty All The Same" was a highlight of the new songs, and to start off the show was quite nice! Also nice to see Joe get to do some work behind the decks and showoff a bit behind his gear. I always felt like he wasn't utilized enough with how much electronic stuff he does for the records, but not always live. Not sure about the "mashups" as it was such a tease! Especially for "Blackout." Questionable encore as well, I was expecting some more heavy songs to finish out the set. Don't think I am complaining, the show was awesome! But, just some weird decisions in setlist selection. As for the recording, I am really happy with the tape. I think the sound is great. But everyone is different and likes their sound a bit different. For the first few songs there were some woo'ers behind me (and every time it happens I always wish I had cards instead of omnis) but they settled after "Given Up." So not bad at all. Absolutely nothing was done to this recording, the only thing was to bring the waveform up 6db to -0.1db. No EQ'ing was done to it! Just wanted to send a special shoutout to Mark and LPLive. I admire the work that is done on the site because I know what goes into running such a site. It's awesome that the band acknowledges the site and supports it. I hope that I can continue to bring recordings from the Detroit area whenever LP comes to town. It's the least I can do for everything that this site has done for me! I hope that more LP fans will start to record shows. Audio rigs are VERY inexpensive nowadays and many tapers are very willing to help anyone who wants to learn. Enjoy the recording. Ryan NOTE: This is the 24-bit version of this recording. That means that you can't automatically burn this to CD without converting it to 16/44. There is a 16 bit version out there as well. |
